Houston, TX: 2nd Shift Ops Supervisor – Titanium Fabrication

Title: 2nd Shift Supervisor
Department: Operations
Name of Immediate Supervisor: Production Manager
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

Position Requirements:
4+ years experience supervising direct reports:
-in an heavy industrial manufacturing environment
-experience in utilizing lean tools
-demonstrated personal impact driving improvements in safety, quality, & productivity
-sound knowledge of problem solving methods.

Basic Purpose of Position:
Insures all manufacturing processes in metal fabrication plant are conducted in accordance to established production schedule including supervision of production personnel, training on work procedures and safety-related items.

Principal Accountabilities & Duties:
1. Ensures compliance with safe work practices, federal and local regulations, and quality standards.
2. Coordinates activities of shift production workers to ensure completion of daily production goals and optimal flow of work through the production process.
3. Keeps score.  Measures success of production operations against standards. Ensures corrective steps are taken as needed.
4. Develops employees. Trains production workers on safety, quality, and productivity requirements.
5. Provides appropriate work instructions, product, and resources to all work units so that schedules are met.
6. Maintains time and production records as required by Supervisor.
7. Inspects parts during production to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
8. Reviews work procedures to insure that production schedules are met.
9. Monitors and ensures all heat treatment and stress relief processes are correct.
10. Monitors the status of shipments to insure on-time shipping schedules are met..
11. Any other duties deemed appropriate by management.

Work Environment & Occupational Demands:
Works in production department.  Requires significant time on the shop floor.  Daily interaction with management and production employees.  May have occasional interaction with customers.  Accessibility for production problems as required, 2nd shift or night, including weekends.  Position requires bending, sitting, stooping, standing, and walking.  Ability to lift up to 50# unassisted.  Ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, hydraulic presses, and saws as required for subordinate support and instructional training.

Nature of Decision Making:
-Assignment of workers to cost centers during the shift
-Conformance of workers to behavior and performance standards
-Adjustments to work flow to optimize plant performance.
-Coaching and counseling of employees
